So Burger King has just announced that they are bringing back the Cheesy Tots for everyone to try. And if I recall, the last time they were available, many people raved about how good it really was.
Me being me, I never tried the Cheesy Tots from Burger King before so you know after hearing this news that I have to go give it a try.
So let’s go buy the Cheesy Tots from Burger King and go do a review on them!
What Is Burger King’s Cheesy Tots
From what Burger King has said, this new creation is basically a hashbrown but made so much better.
And according to Burger King, the Cheesy Tots is an item that features a crispy-fried outer shell that is loaded with warm potato and melted cheese on the inside.
So reading the description, it seems to me that it’s basically a hashbrown but with delicious cheese on the inside. That to me sounds absolutely delicious so I can’t wait to give it a try.
Buying the Burger King’s Cheesy Tots
After hearing the news, I decided to get in my car and head to the nearest Burger King that I could find. And fortunately for me, it is only a few minutes drive away so it makes it really easy for me to reach.
I got to Burger King and saw that there was no cars in the drive-thru lane.
This was perfect as it means that I could order my item and then try them immediately. But it also got me curious as to why there was no cars in the drive-thru lane considering it was prime time at 12:30 p,m.
Either way, I drove up to the speaker and placed an order for a 4-piece Cheesy Tots. They also have an 8-piece Cheesy Tots as well. But I got the 4-piece Cheesy Tots and it was being priced at around $1.49.
Seeing it priced at $1.49 for 4-pieces is actually a pretty good deal to me.
After paying for my food, it took around 2 to 3 more minutes until they gave me my food.
Now lets get in on the review!
What Does Burger King’s Cheesy Tots Look Like
Taking the item out of the bag, I noticed that it was being packaged in a paper bag.
The 4-pieces of Cheesy Tots actually smelled quite good, and they are honestly a pretty good size. I took a few out of the bag to take a look at them.
Outside exterior was just like Burger King has said and it was crispy all around. It also had a good golden brown color which means that they cooked it right.
Aside from that, there’s nothing really else to say about the appearance as it’s just Cheesy Tots.
I did wish they could have gave me a sauce however as normally I like to dip my hashbrowns in sauce. And seeing as how these Cheesy Tots are basically hash browns with cheese, it would make sense to pair it with some sauce.
But either way, hopefully it tastes good so lets get in on the review!
What Does Burger King’s Cheesy Tots Taste Like
I grabbed a piece of the Cheesy Tots and surprisingly it wasn’t greasy to grab. It had a clean fried feeling that looked good.
I took a bite and immediately I heard a strong and loud crunch.
That to me was perfection as I love it when hash brown types of foods have a great crunch all around. And not only that, but the inside filling was actually really delicious too.
It was soft and pillowy just like a hashbrown.
But you also get the melted sensation of the cheese that was gooey and creamy. It paired really well with the potato filling. In my opinion, this is a great combination as you get the best of both worlds, a bit of a hashbrown as well as some cheese.
As good as the texture was, I did feel like the flavor was somewhat weak though.
You could definitely taste the flavor of the potato, but the cheese was somewhat taking a back seat. You could taste a slight hint of mild cheese but that’s literally it. I wish they actually added more cheese into the filling so that it literally gushes out at you.
Not only that, but I think the Cheesy Tots definitely needed to be paired with some sauce. Doesn’t matter what kind, but by dipping it in some sauce, it’ll help give it that extra flavor that it needs.
But even still, it’s not a bad item to have.
How Can Burger King’s Cheesy Tots Be Improved
Like I said earlier, I believe that if these Cheesy Tots from Burger King had some sauce to be paired with it, it would definitely taste amazing.
But I guess that’s probably my fault as I should have asked for some sauce? But In my mind, I was just going based of what Burger King was offering. And they didn’t say these items paired with any sauces so I just got the Cheesy Tots as is.
However, if I maybe grabbed a barbecue sauce, honey mustard or something, I can definitely see these being really good.
Hopefully next time, Burger King actually pairs the Cheesy Tots together with some type of sauce so that the flavor can actually be more intense.
Overall Thoughts
At the end of the day, Burger King’s Cheesy Tots are actually pretty good. Especially the texture as they are perfectly made. It’s literally a hash brown with cheese on the inside. That is literally heaven in my opinion. But as good as the texture is, flavor is somewhat lacking.
So if you were to go to Burger King and get the Cheesy Tots, definitely get some sauce to pair with it. Doesn’t matter what sauce you want, but just get any of your favorites and I think you will have an amazing time eating these.
