Burger King has recently launched a new chicken sandwich being the new Honey Mustard Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich.
And me being me, I saw that it was a Honey Mustard flavored, so you know we had to get it!
I have tried many of Burger Kings chicken sandwiches before and typically I always found them to be just okay. Nothing great, nothing special but just okay.
However, this one in particular caught my attention because it had that delicious Honey Mustard sauce.
So I am expecting some great flavors to come out of this.
It’s time to go get the sandwich.
Buying The Food
Buying the food was pretty simple.
I went to my local Burger King and simply asked for the new Honey Mustard Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich. However, for some reason my local Burger King did not have it in stock that day.
In fact, none of the Burger Kings in my city had this item in stock.
And I was so confused as I saw everyone else from other cities and states enjoying this sandwich, but yet my city of Houston, which is one of the biggest cities in the USA does not have it.
I was told to come back in 3 days to get this sandwich, which I was sad but nothing else I could do.
After 3 days, I came back to Burger King and was able to get this amazing sandwich.
For the price of 1 Honey Mustard Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich, it came out to around $6.49.
Which in honesty, was kind of expensive for a chicken sandwich.
But hopefully it tastes good.
Now, onto the review!
What Does It Look Like
Once I took the sandwich out of the paper bag, I saw that it was wrapped in a typical burger paper wrap.
And upon opening it up, I saw that it actually looked really good.
The smell of the Honey Mustard immediately whiffed through my nose and I was salivating.
The burger itself had your typical chicken sandwich ingredients, which features things like crispy white meat breast fillet topped with honey mustard, creamy swiss cheese, crispy bacon, lettuce and juicy tomatoes on a toasted potato bun.
Although, if you looked closer, you could tell the sandwich itself was a bit messy as the sauce was dripping on the sides. And not only that, but the chicken patty was also very thin which was a shame.
But as you know, it’s not about the appearance but about the taste.
So lets go try the sandwich.
What Did It Taste Like
Once I took the first bite, I noticed that the Honey Mustard flavor was pretty prominant.
It was really flavorful and I actually wanted to eat it more and more.
The first flavors to hit my mouth was a sweet yet tangy type of feel which was nice. The sauce itself wasn’t overpowering, and you could definitely taste the honey flavor that was in it.
But being a Honey Mustard type of sauce, it would usually have some type of kick similar to horseradish but a lot weaker. However, I noticed in this sandwich there was barely any kick. Just a slight buzz on my tongue which kind of surprised me.
It wasn’t bad by any means, but I was just expecting the sauce to be a bit stronger.
Other than that, the chicken sandwich itself was made pretty well.
Chicken patty was crispy and had a thin batter, while the meat itself was juicy and tender. Pair that up with the tomatoes, lettuce, and bacon, it was a flavorful bite.
Not to mention, the bun was also super soft and pillowy which gave it bonus points on each bite.
Although, eating it did get a bit messy because the sauce would typically just roll of the middle and fall out of the sandwich, which I didn’t really like.
But all in all, it held up pretty well and I was pleasantly happy with the item.
How It Can Be Improved
Now even though the sandwich itself was pretty flavorful, there could be a few changes.
For instance, one that I would definitely suggest would be to take out the bacon.
Being a chicken sandwich, I want only the chicken as the main protein, nothing else. Pair that up with the other ingredients like lettuce and tomatoes as well as that Honey Mustard sauce was enough to give it much flavors and textures.
But adding that bacon kind of confused the bite as it added a bit of a salty feel and a crunch that kind of made the sandwich TOO crunchy if that made any sense.
Other than that, I would personally have liked to see the Honey Mustard have a bit of a stronger kick to it for added flavor and sensations, but as it is right now, it’s still now bad.
Overall Thoughts
At the end of the day, Burger King did good by releasing this new Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich.
It had good flavors and was honestly pretty well made.
Now if the sandwich was like a few dollars cheaper, it would be a home run, because lets face it. Being priced at around $6 for a sandwich, that is pretty expensive.
Either way, I can definitely see myself coming back to this sandwich and will definitely enjoy it again if it comes back in the future.
