Taco Bell has joined the birria craze as it has just released its own version of a dipping taco being the new Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco.
This new dipping taco is available for everyone to buy starting today August 3, 2023, and is in my opinion going to be one of the most popular items ever.
What makes this grilled cheese dipping taco so special is that it features slow-braised shredded beef – a brand new protein offering from Taco Bell, with a three-cheese blend melted on the inside and grilled on the outside of a freshly fried daily white corn shell. The new taco comes with a side of warm nacho cheese sauce and a savory yet delicious red sauce for dipping.
Because of this, you know we here at Food Senpai has to go try it and give you all a review.
So with that being said, lets get started!
Buying The Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco:
In order to buy the new Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco, it was actually a pretty simple thing to do.
Basically, you just place the order on your app or you can go in the store to order. Just select the new item and check out.
Price point wise, I would have to say its a little bit expensive as my location was serving it after tax was $4.10.
Now, I don’t know about you, but in my city, I can go to an authentic Mexican restaurant and get a real birria taco for around $3 dollars. So seeing Taco Bell serve up a dipping taco that is more expensive than an average birria taco is a little surprising.
But hopefully the food tastes good.
I will note though that customers can also get the new grilled cheese dipping taco in a combo deluxe box which comes with a Medium Drink, Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco, Chalupa Supreme, Beefy 5-Layer Burrito, and Chips and Nacho Cheese Sauce. It also comes with the Two Dipping Sauces (Nacho Cheese, Red Sauce).
The combo box comes at around $9.49 in my area, which actually seems like a way better deal than buying the Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco alone.
But anyways, for this review, we’re just going to be reviewing the new dipping taco.
What Does It Look Like:
As you can see, the new Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco actually looks quite delicious.
Although it does seem a bit messy.
Immediately, you can see the beautiful cheese being grilled on the outside shell, and the shredded beef aroma just flows into your nose. You also see a bit of the jalapeno cheese sauce flowing out as well. It actually looks really good.
Not only that, but you got two sauce containers which has the nacho cheese sauce and red sauce, which were filled quite generously.
But I was asking myself, how was I going to hold this taco since there is cheese literally on the outside of the shell, it would mean holding this taco would be quite messy or oily.
What Did It Taste Like:
Once I took a bite, I was simply blown away.
The flavors of this new Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco was unbelievable.
First things first, I tried the taco without any dipping sauces first.
Immediately, I noticed the intense cheesy sensation that was flowing all throughout the taco. It was gooey, it was stringy, and had a nice mild taste that was so good. The tortilla itself has been cooked to a nice crispy sensation while inside the new protein which was the shredded beef shined.
That shredded beef was probably the best meat Taco Bell has ever released.
It was juicy, it was tender, and the beef flavor was so concentrated and strong that it made each bite taste like heaven. I felt all the juices of the beef flowing around as I chewed and the flavor got more intense and strong.
Not to mention, inside there was also more cheese and also a jalapeno sauce which was creamy and spicy, and gave my tongue a nice burning kick which I loved.
Even without any of the dipping sauces, I could tell that this taco was delicious.
Dipping Sauces:
Next up, was to try the Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco with the sauces that they paired up with it.
First up was the red sauce.
Now this sauce, was very interesting.
At first, I thought it was going to be the regular consome, but in fact it had a different type of taste.
The red sauce itself had a bunch of spices and seasonings inside that gave it a good hearty feel. It also has a bit of a spice to it that wasn’t too strong but paired nicely with the taco.
If you were to ask me, I would say its very similar to that red sauce you would usually find on enchiladas, which was really tasty. It had that identical feel and taste that you loved.
The only thing I didn’t like was that it was too liquid.
If the sauce was thicker it would be better, because being so liquid, the sauce just flows right off the taco. And it was a bit messy to eat. But other than that, flavor was good.
Next up was the nacho cheese sauce.
Honestly, this doesn’t really need an explanation from me as we all know what Taco Bells nacho cheese sauce tastes like.
It’s super thick, very cheesy that adds a strong creamy flare.
But nothing too much in terms of additional flavoring.
If you love cheese, then this is the perfect combination.
But personally for me, I would say to dip the taco into both the sauces as it’ll give a very unique taste. A bit cheesy and savory that tastes delicious.
How Can It Be Improved:
Honestly, this Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco is already really good.
It doesn’t really need any improvements.
But one thing I would say is to maybe lower the price because you have to remember Taco Bell is considered Fast Food. And typically, Fast Food is cheap and affordable where everyone can buy it.
But the price of this dipping taco is over $4 dollars which is pretty expensive. You could literally go to any Mexican restaurant and get regular tacos or birria tacos for cheaper than that, so it’s like why would you go to Taco Bell for this if you can get it cheaper elsewhere?
All in all, hopefully Taco Bell realizes this and lowers their price.
Overall Thoughts:
Taco Bell has been on a roll lately.
All the items they been releasing has been bangers after bangers.
With this one being just like the rest, this was probably my favorite item at Taco Bell so far.
If they ever decide to lower the price to around $3 dollars, it would totally be a steal and I would come here time and time again. But, even at $4 dollars, its still not bad considering its fast food and it tastes great.
