I’m sure everyone by now has probably been to a Burger King at some point in their life. After all, it’s one of the biggest fast food burger chains in existence. Serving up burgers, fries, shakes and more, there is so many different options. But one thing that makes them stand out is the sauces as all of their sauce tastes so good. But what sauces does Burger King have?
As you know, being a major fast food company, Burger King themselves must carry a wide range of sauces suitable for any and all people wanting to try them.

And great thing about this is that we here at Food Senpai have actually ordered every single sauce that they have. We even tried them out individually so that we can give you all the information you need to know about Burger King’s sauces.

What Does Burger King Sauces Taste Like?
As you know, no sauce is the same as each one will have their own unique taste and flavor.
And depending on which Burger King sauce you try, some may definitely be better than the others. So we are going to try them now and tell you our opinions as to what we think about each Burger King sauce.
BBQ Sauce
Burger King’s BBQ sauce is probably the most popular and most favorite sauce of all customers to choose from. After all, it’s a classic item as every fast food company around will have their own version of BBQ sauce to use. And Burger King’s is a great one!
For instance, when you try Burger King’s BBQ sauce, you’ll notice that it is extremely smoky and rich, probably the smokiest BBQ sauce in all of fast food. It also has a very deep type of sweetness which I’m assuming is from the brown sugar that they used. It’s also pretty tangy too and can give so much flavor to any item you pair it with.
Personally for me, If I were to choose an item to pair with Burger King’s BBQ sauce, then it would have to be the Chicken Nuggets or Fries. Both of which are good, but once you add on the BBQ sauce, then that smoky sensation just takes over and gives it like a new breath of life.
Definitely one of my favorite sauces of all time.
And if you want, try it with the burgers too by adding a bit inside. It’ll give the burgers a new flavor that is very deep and flavorful that you will want more and more.
Buffalo Sauce
Burger King’s Buffalo sauce is actually very interesting as it’s slightly different from other buffalo sauces that you may have come to known. It’s quite flavorful and is a really good pick to use with any item you are wanting a slight bit of heat from.
For instance, Burger King’s Buffalo sauce itself is a creamy yet thin type of sauce. It’s also pretty sticky too and stays well on whatever item you use it on. And when you pair it with any particular item then you’ll notice that it’ll bring a nice warming feel to your tongue. Nothing too over powering, but just slight enough where you’ll feel a buzz and a kick.
Honestly for me though, I would personally make the Buffalo sauce a lot more hotter, but even as it is now, it’s still quite good.
Now if you were to pair Burger King’s Buffalo sauce with an item, I would definitely suggest any one of their spicy items. For instance, their Spicy Chicken Nuggets or even the Ghost Pepper Fries would be perfect. As both items gives off a good amount of spice but then you add on the creamy Buffalo sauce, and it’ll be spice on top of spice.
Definitely do give it a try!
Honey Mustard Sauce
Burger King’s Honey Mustard sauce is actually a pretty decent and popular selection that many people love to choose. After all, who doesn’t love honey and who doesn’t love mustard? Combining both of these flavors together brings out a really good taste with each bite.
And what makes Burger King’s Honey Mustard so good is that it’s actually more towards the honey side than the mustard. Sure you’ll still get a subtle kick from the mustard, but most predominantly you’ll be getting the honey which is thick and creamy but with a good amount of sweetness. Honestly, if you aren’t actually looking for it, you probably won’t even feel the mustard flavor take effect. It’s literally mostly the honey giving you that good sweetness that you’re looking for.
And if you’re wondering what item best pairs with Burger King’s Honey Mustard, than I have to say anything savory. Which is actually quite a lot of items. For me personally, I would say things like the Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Fries, Fries, and heck even the Chicken Sandwiches are perfect items to use when pairing with this sauce.
Ranch Sauce
Burger King’s Ranch sauce is actually quite polarizing among some customers. Many of which love it, but also many others don’t. And honestly I can see both sides as the ranch itself is not your typical ranch that you might be used to.
Burger King’s Ranch sauce has the looks and texture of that of a regular ranch sauce where it is thick, white and creamy. However, the thing that differentiates it from other ranch sauces is that this one has a slight tartness or sourness that is subtly hiding in the background. You won’t notice it immediately, but after a few seconds of chewing, it does pop out.
Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend Burger King’s Ranch sauce, but if you must get it, I would pair it with their Chicken Nuggets or Chicken Fries. You need that oily ness from the chicken to help balance it out I guess.
If you can, definitely pick another sauce to use as their ranch sauce just isn’t up to par.
Sweet & Sour Sauce
What can I say about Burger King’s Sweet and Sour sauce besides that it’s Sweet and Sour?
Literally the name in the sauce itself describes what the sauce is going to taste like.
And being as how Burger King released this Sweet and Sour Sauce, there isn’t really anything too special about it. It’s not bad but it’s not great either. It’s just basically your ordinary Sweet and Sour sauce that you can find in any Asian restaurant.
Sauce itself is quite syrupy in nature and will definitely slide off if not careful. But they managed to make the flavor profile quite balanced as the sweetness and sourness compliments each other quite well. Kind of feels like a pineapple taste but much better.
Personally if I were to get the Sweet and Sour Sauce, I probably wouldn’t pair it with any of the burgers or sandwiches. But in my opinion, it would best be paired with either the Chicken Nuggets, Fries or even the Chicken Fries.
Zesty Sauce
Burger King’s Zesty Sauce is actually pretty famous among the fast food customers. After all, the Zesty sauce itself is quite unique as not many other fast food companies have something quite like it.
For those who tried it, you’ll definitely think it’s like a mix of Thousand Island with Horseradish inside.
It’s a bit weird but definitely interesting and is quite good once you get the hang of it.
For instance, the sauce itself is quite orange in color but is thick and creamy all together. And when you’re first tasting it, it feels slightly acidic and has a pickle type of flavor going on in the back of your mouth. But then after a few seconds you’ll be hit with a kick from the horseradish and you’re like “WOW” that is interesting!
Honestly, in my opinion the Zesty sauce works perfectly with any and all items that Burger King carries. It adds a type of kick which is different from a spice or hot sauce but also has a creamy goodness going on. I usually pair it up with the Chicken Fries or also the Chicken Sandwich to give it more oomph with each bite.
It might take a bit to get use to, especially if you aren’t familiar with horseradish type of flavors, but once you do, it is delicious!
Marinara Sauce
Lastly, we have the Marinara Sauce from Burger King.
And honestly, what can I say? It’s basically your typical Marinara sauce that you are familiar with from any other fast food locations or even restaurants. The sauce itself is a bit thick yet stays on the item you pair it with really nicely. The sauce itself also has a distinctive tomato flavor which is a bit rich and acidic with a slight sweetness going on.
It’s a pretty good sauce in my opinion, and if you’re wanting to pair it up with something then I would definitely suggest the Mozzarella Sticks. As you know, cheese and tomatoes go hand in hand, so when you pair this together you get a bit of a crispy sensation with a nice smooth cheesy feel along with sweet and rich flavors from the Marinara sauce.
Obviously you can pair this with other things too, but I think the Mozzarella Sticks works best here.
Does Burger King Charge For Sauce?
Like most major fast food companies around, Burger King actually does indeed charge for sauce. And depending on how many you want, it can definitely add up.
Although depending on what item you get, you’ll probably get a few for free before they start charging.
For instance, if you were to get fries, mozzarella sticks, chicken fries or more, then Burger King might give you a few sauce cups for you to use. But if you want a bit more then they will likely charge you for each additional sauce cup that you want.
In my area looking at my receipt, my local Burger King charges around $0.26 cents per each additional dipping sauce. Which if you think about it, is actually quite cheap per say. But it can add up quite fast if you are wanting a lot of sauces to use.
Now I have also heard some Burger King’s not caring and just giving the sauce for free, but I have yet to see this happen so who knows. Maybe in your area you might get lucky with this.
But either way, most commonly than not, you will most likely get charged for sauce depending on how many additional ones you get.
Conclusion
With that being said, Burger King definitely has a variety of sauces for you to choose from.
And most of which, their sauces are actually quite good. Doesn’t matter if you want that zesty type of flavor, the marinara, BBQ or more, they have a good selection which will definitely suite your tastes.
